Indiaplaza review
Firstly, Indiaplaza would like to say a big thank you to all our customers for making us the largest seller of *Dan Brown’s ‘The Lost Symbol’* in India.
Now for the book itself – we read the book and our reaction – ‘simply stunning’.
While this book is unlikely to win any ‘literary’ award, the plot and the construct of the story clearly tells us why Dan Brown is the most popular and entertaining storyteller of our times. Brown’s research and introduction of a new concept in each book clearly tells us how he manages a spawn an industry with a single book.
The intrigue starts with the very first line and by the time you are at the end of chapter 1, you are already in a cloud of mysteries.
A whole bunch of speculations that surrounded the book are true – it does look like the original title of the book was ‘Solomon Key’ and yes, it does involve freemasonry.
The book begins with Robert Langdon being urgently called into Washington by his mentor, Peter Solomon, only to discover that Solomon is kidnapped and his severed hand is found above the Capitol Crypt. Then begins the roller coaster ride.
The book moves through a maze of twists and turns with Langdon and his brilliant and lovely looking associate Dr.Katherine Solomon solving ancient crypts and combing unused catacombs.
The book brings in ‘noetic science’ –the science of studying human consciousness. We are certain the book will do to this little known ‘science’ what Da Vinci Code did to the Holy Grail. Don’t be surprised if you see a whole bunch of new thriller books speaking about ‘mind over matter’.
In comparison to ‘Da Vinci Code’ and ‘Angels and Demons’ – our opinion- it’s certainly on par, if not better than ‘Da Vinci Code’. Our favourite, though, still remains ‘Angels and Demons’.
The new international best seller, The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown broke record and created history by selling over a million copies on the release day.
