Ji Mantriji Volume 2 chronicles the continuing adventures of Suryaprakash Singh, the well-meaning but comically inept-Minister of Administrative Affair, as he grapples with situations that arise seemingly out of nowhere, and attempts valiantly to combat the bureaucratic machinery unleashed on him by Rajnath Mathur, Secretary of the Department, and S.K.Kaul, Suryaprakash's Private Secretary. Suryaprakash's diary, supplemented by remarks from Shri Mathur and other official memos, records the strange schemings and counter schemings that make up a politician's daily diet. Before he can live down his accidental and near-fatal involvement in the Safdarjang Project scam, he has to take a call on Shankar Dayal Memorial Hospital, which has 500 administrators and no doctors or patients. He then has to contend with the explosive qualities of Propanol, a chemical the government has just agreed to licence, and deal with threat of an imminent cabinet reshuffle . There is also the niggling matter of an honorary doctorate that St.Stephen's has promised to confer on him, but at a price....
