The Counselor - Arundhati Ghosh |
One of the rare professionals bridging the worlds of Business and the Arts, Arundhati has, for the last seven years, headed the Marketing and Business Development division at the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), a national independent grants making organisation in the arts and culture. She has been recently designated as the Deputy Director of IFA with responsibilities including Administration, Finance and Investments and the theatre infrastructure along with fund-raising and resource mobilisation, arts services and consultancies, media management and public relations.
A graduate in Economics (Hons.) from Presidency College, Calcutta, she did her post-graduation in Marketing and Communications from Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Chevening Gurukul Scholarship for Leadership and Excellence at the London School of Economics, London. Besides being keen in academics, she also holds a Bachelors Degree in Dance with distinction in Kathak and has performed on stage for many years. She has been trained in film appreciation at the Film & Television Institute of India, Pune and has attended several international workshops in Europe and USA on themes related to Arts, Business and Institution-building.
Arundhati started her professional career in the corporate sector at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising as a senior account executive. She has worked with Birla 3M Ltd. as head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs and has also headed the Marketing and Strategic Alliances division of BuyAsOne.com, India’s first Group buying portal.
After having spent six years in the corporate sector, Arundhati moved to the Non-profit / NGO sector and renewed her association with the world of art & culture through IFA. She has led “Stagefrite”, an amateur English Theatre group in Bangalore and writes in English and Bengali with some of her works having been published by magazines like Tehalka, Sulekha, Boipara and Chirontan. A voracious reader and film aficionado, she also teaches, trains and speaks at various corporate and non-profit forums.
Ms. Arundhati Ghosh will be the external counselor and adviser for The Indiaplaza Golden Quill Book Awards 2009. Ms. Ghosh will ensure the transparency of the process to be followed for the selection of the winner 2009. |
