Indiaplaza Golden Quill Book Awards 2008
Welcome to the Indiaplaza 'Golden Quill' Book Awards 2009Indiaplaza Golden Quill Book Awards - A Celebration Of Indian Writing

As the largest bookstore in India, we have served book lovers like no other store has. For us selling books is a passion. This passion has enabled us in understanding the hearts and minds of Indian readers and their hunger for good books. Indian writers do not often receive the focus they deserve because of which not many readers are able to read quality Indian writing. We hope to change that and did so with the Indiaplaza Golden Quill Awards, 2008, which was a grand success. Now we continue with the journey with the Indiaplaza Golden Quill Awards, 2009.

The focus this year is on books written by Indian authors domiciled in India in both fiction and non-fiction. That's right, this year we have added a new category of non-fiction to enhance the scope and the reach of this Award and also to introduce new books and authors to the readers.

We also desire that the reader be involved in the process of the selection of the final winner. Hence The Indiaplaza Golden Quill - Readers' choice. We hope you have as much fun selecting your best book as we enjoyed putting the whole thing together.

Concept Behind The 'Golden Quill' Awards

Indiaplaza is today India"s largest online bookstore with over a million customers worldwide. The Indiaplaza Golden Quill Award 2008 was held in August and was a grand success.

To continue with this journey, the 'Indiaplaza Golden Quill Award 2009' will be held this September. This award is to encourage Indian writing and also to further our commitment to the cause of reading in India.

This year Indiaplaza introduces a new award; Indiaplaza Golden Quill book award for non-fiction.

  2. There will be three awards: The Indiaplaza Golden Quill Book Award 2009 will be decided by an eminent Jury and a Reader’s Choice Award 2009 for fiction and non-fiction will be decided by the readers through an online process set up by Indiaplaza. The chosen authors will be a given a citation, a trophy and cash prize each.
» The External Counselor:
  • Ms. Arundhati Ghosh, Deputy Director - India Foundation for Arts, will be the external advisor and counselor. Ms. Ghosh will oversee the awards and ensure transparency of process.
» The Selection Process:
  1. For this year Publishers will be invited to submit entries from their stable of books published in 2008.
