In The Restaurant at the End of the Universe , Zaphod discovers he has actually no control over the galaxy and wants to find out who really runs the universe. Meanwhile Arthur engages in a whole new civilization and crashes in pre-historic earth.

In Life, The Universe and Everything , Arthur and his gang travel from pre-historic Earth to prevent a galactic war with the help of Zaplod.

Arthur returns home to Earth in So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish and hitch-hikes one last time accompanied with his gang.

The fifth one, Mostly Harmless , begins with Vogons prepare for one final attack to destroy Earth.

Now, in And Another Thing, Eoin Colfer continues the journey started two decades ago by Douglas Adams. Arthur Dent saves Earth from Vogons. He has traveled now for a long time in space and is ready to return to Earth once again, this time for good. He comes back only to find that Earth is the brink of a catastrophe and is about to be blown up again by an unknown enemy.
